My selection of twitter fiction!
I think it's kinda cool to limit yourself to 140 characters to actually wrtie something that has a shape, setting and characters. It's difficult, it's witty and many different things come out and some are incredibly original while some are incredibly (or relatively) boring. So here are some I like:
She clawed her way up the path, determined to reach the summit. 'Who needs legs?' she thought.
The battle was won and she smiled down at those she trampled. Her victory would be short lived, but it was the journey that mattered.
She danced to the beat of her own drummer, but it was always on table tops at random bars.
And then the meeting entered a stage where it seemed endless. Eternal. And he noticed his watch had stopped so he wound it. Nothing changed.
The storm raged through her mind and suddenly - silence. She knew better. This was just the eye.
Eldon wisely saved his pennies for a rainy day. When the storms came, he made his escape, leaving behind his wife who was afraid of water.

Walk away
Walk away Walk away Walk away
From gods who demand thoughtless obedience
Walk away
From pettiness that will make you petty
Walk away
From anger that will eat your insides
Walk away
From abuse which steals your soul
Walk away
Gaining strength with each stride
Walk away
Alone, arm-in-arm or in tandem
Walk away
Yet do not run away in fear
Walk away
You, first among equals
Walk away
Holding head high
Walk away

The Zoo
The Panther
His gaze has, from the passing of the bars,
gotten so tired that it holds nothing more.
To him it is, as if there were a thousand bars
And behind a thousand bars no world.
The soft stride of smooth strong steps,
that spins round in the tiniest circle,
is like a dance of strength around a center,
in which, numbly, a great will stands.
Only sometimes the curtain of the pupil
rises silently. — Then an image enters,
goes through the limbs’ tense silence —
and in the heart ceases to exist.
His gaze has, from the passing of the bars,
gotten so tired that it holds nothing more.
To him it is, as if there were a thousand bars
And behind a thousand bars no world.
The soft stride of smooth strong steps,

Only sometimes the curtain of the pupil
rises silently. — Then an image enters,
goes through the limbs’ tense silence —

It's all happening at the zoo.
I do believe it,
I do believe it's true.

It's all about the fucking brand. Just do it.

Boys don't cry

Ai was exhausted and enraged. He looked ready to cry, but did not. I believe he considers crying either evil or shameful. Even when he was very ill and weak, the first days of our escape, he hid his face from me when he wept. Reasons personal, racial, social, sexual - how can I guess why Ai must not weep? Yet his name is a cry of pain.

Kendime soru: Buraya gerçekten gitmek istiyor muyum?

Communications with God
God sifts through the waste of society,
separating the wheat from the chaff,
moving along from one dumpster to the next,
pulling out slabs of salmon steak from one behind a restaurant
and an alluminium cage with a fluff of woodshavings
on the bottom of it from another beside an apartment complex.
Later, he will toss chunks of salmon to a mob of cats
and find, buried beneath the shavings in the cage,
the barely breathing body of a pink and white furry mass.
He will place his finger behind its neck and press softly,
and the mouse will shiver slightly and open its mouth.
Then God will dip honey from a jar with a spoon,
take a dab on his fingertip, and smear it across the mouth
and the long, protruding teeth of the dying mouse.
Then he will take a drop of water on his finger
and put it into the mouth, mixing honey with water.
He will feel the belly of the mouse, and the
lift the body up to his mouth. He will
blow gently into the mouth of the mouse his own breath.
But the mouse no longer stir. God says
that the spirit of the mouse has already left,
though it may yet decide to return,
and that maybe it's for the best,
because the mouse was suffering here in this life.
He returns the body of the mouse to the shavings in the cage,
and tells me that he had a friend once named Mel
who had been in a terrible car accident,
and after much suffering for a long time,
finally died. I say that's sad. He
says no, not really, because his friend was
possibly reborn into another body on the very day
he died, and is better off now, new and fresh, ready
to begin his next life. The next day,
when God comes inside the house to take a bath,
he brings with him a telephone he found that morning.
He says some college kids threw away several of them.
He says you can sell them back to Bell sometimes
if they're still in good condition. As he bathes,
I plug it in and listen to the dead sounds
coming through the line, into the phone God has found.
When God has finished with his bath, he goes back outside
to the garage, where his little black dog is tied,
and begins a low and calm conversation with the dog,
telling him he's going to have to rearrange some things here.
He lights a Gauloise and sets to work in the garage,
moving about junk and propping up an old mattress
he's set in the doorway, in front of his bed on the ground.
For winter's coming on, it's already November, and God
knows even he needs protection from the stiff north wind.
Besides, he knows too there are small aircraft around,
and a certain Cessna that follows him. They're
watching him even now. He knows. He's God.
But it doesn't matter because the process has already begun.
He's been to New Mexico and seen, in Carlsbad Caverns,
bodies that, after many centuries, have arisen from stone there.
The government, of course, is keeping this under wraps.
There's another thing too he's noticed and hets us in on.
The plants have changed in the last week or so,
and the earth has finally regained its soul.
Then he decides to tell us who he is, if we haven't yet guessed,
even though he knows, he says, that because of this
he may lose his temporary shelter inside our garage.
He is who he says he is, he says, and is absolutely
not a paranoid schizophrenic. He knows he
is one with God in The Light Of Creation, and is himself
the light of creation that we see and feel when we
ourselves have come near to God in His blessedness on the earth.
And how will we respond to that? Well,
first we will rub linseed oil into the dry, diseased skin
of our dog, who has lost most of his hair this summer.
And we will do this because God, who loves dogs, has,
in his infinite wisdom and authority, suggested it,
and told us that it would restore to him his natural lustrous coat
and also interfere with the breeding cycle of the fleas
which are now feeding and laying their eggs on him.
We will take this word for it. He's God. He knows.
And we will allow him to remain and to sleep
in our garage for another few days, while this weather holds.
Because, even to God, the world is now cold.
And, if we can understand nothing else he tells us, almost,
we do, at least, know this.

Statement by Chief Smohalla of the Nez Percé Indians
My young men shall never work. Men who work cannot dream & wisdom comes in dreams.
You ask me to plow the ground. Shall I take a knife and tear my mother's breast? Then when I die she will not take me toher bosom to rest. You ask me to dig for stone. Shall I dig under her skin for bones? Then when I die I cannot enter her body to be born again. You ask me to cut grass and make hay and sell it and be rich like white men. But how dare I cut my mother's hair?It is a bad law and my people cannot obey it. I want my people to stay with me here. All the dead men will come to life again. We must wait here in the house of our fathers and be ready to meet them in thebody of our mother.

A Gaimanian genesis story by the Uitoto Indians
In the beginning the word gave origin to the father.
II
A phantasm, nothing else existed in the beginning: the Father touched an illusion, he grasped something mysterious. Nothing existed. Through
the agency of a dream our Father Nai-mu-ena kept the mirage to his body & he pondered long & thought deeply.
Nothing existed, not even a stick to support the vision: our Father attached the illusion to the thread of a dream & kept it by the aid of his breath. He sounded to reach the bottom of appearance, but there was nothing. Nothing existed.
Then the Father again investigated the bottom of the mystery. He tied the empty illusion to the dream thread & pressed the magical substance upon it. Then by the aid of his dream he held it like a wisp of raw cotton.
Then he seized the mirage bottom & stamped upon it repeatedly, sitting down at last on his dreamed earth.
The earth-phantasm was his now, & he spat out saliva repeatedly so that the forests might grow. Then he lay down on his earth & covered it with the roof of heaven. As he was the owner of the earth he placed above it the blue & the white sky.
Thereupon Rafu-ema, the-man-who-has-the-narratives, sitting at the base of the skyi pondered, & he created this story so that we might listen to it here upon earth.

Gassire'nin Luth'u I
Hoooh! Dierra, Agada, Ganna, Silla! Hoooh! Fasa!

Tesadüfen tekrar Stephen Crane
Daha önce postladığım şairden bir şiir daha. Orjinal dilinde, aşağı yukarı şöyle bişi:
From War Is Kind
I
Do not weep, maiden, for war is kind.
Because your lover threw wild hands toward the sky
Do not weep.
War is kind.
Hoarse, booming drums of the regiment
Little souls who thirst for fight,
These men were born to drill and die
The unexplained glory flies above them
Great is the battle-god, great, and his kingdom-
A field where a thousand corpses lie.
Do not weep, babe, for war is kind
Because your father trumbled in the yellow trenches,
Raged at his breast, gulped and died
Do not weep.
War is kind.
Swift, blazing flag of the regiment
Eagle with crest of red and gold,
These men were born to drill and die
Point for them the virtue of slaughter
Make plain to them the excellence of killing
And a field where a thousand corpses lie.
Mother whose heart hung humble as a button
On the bright splendid shroud of your son,
Do not weep.
War is kind.
Stephen Crane
Galiba sevdim bu adamı. Bir hikayesinde de şöyle sayıklar:
If I am going to be drowned - if I am going to be drowned - if I am going to be drowned, why, in the name of the seven mad gods who rule the sea, was I allowed to come thus far and contemplate sand and trees? Was I brought here merely to have my nose dragged away as I was about to nibble the sacred cheese of life?

Art is MADNESS - it's like a contagious disease!
For a poet is an airy thing, winged and holy, and he is not able to make poetry until he becomes inspired and goes out of his mind and his intellect is no longer with him. As long as a human being has his intellect in his possession he will always lack the power to make poetry or sing prophecy.

Truly, he IS god...
So each day would be new
I build you to sleep
that´s the idea of dying but
you´ll just have to see
You can do what you want or so you think
But til you stop all your thoughts
you are ties to your surroundings
When the fog spreads out
in the rainy season
It comes from my insides
When the thunderous lightning strikes down
you´re seeing your real I
People
You blaspheme my name
But still I love you
Still I love you
I love you just the same
I hear all your prayers
because I´m each one of you
Creations not something I did
it´s something that I do
The reason for the bad is
so there'd be such thing as good
Oh I´d do anything for you
You all know I would
Be for me Be for me Be for me
Before me Before me Before me
You know that I try to repair and repay
As life goes by a thousand times
It gets a little better
All is belief, All is belief, All is belief, All is belief
I build you to sleep
that´s the idea of dying but

An Oath
I sharpen my sword
Facing the hills bright with campfires
That shadow the starry night.
A song rises, promises
To reach out to the sun, to the lands beyond the mountains
and of building Houses of unseen magnificence,
with towers erect, and walls thick with pride.
Madness is an avalanche of rubies:
Disdain for power, kill for land.
I sharpen my sword.
Not for me are the glorious songs,
Not for me are the promises of a better tomorrow.
Blood shall be shed.
I sharpen my sword to kill my brother.
